The 2012 Bedroom Trends Ė Donít be late to the Game

When you think about how long we spend in our bedrooms, sleeping and getting ready for the day, it makes sense that our bedroom is comfortable and attractive. Just like any room in the home, bedroom trends change over time. Keeping up with the latest trends can be expensive and time consuming, so here are some timeless classics that have withstood the test of time:

Natural:

Bringing nature into the bedroom is one style that will never die down. This year isnít so much about plants and greens, but earthy woods. This can range from natural hardwood flooring to wooden beds and wooden draws. Wood is a hardy material and will keep you following the latest trend for years to come.

Space:

The illusion of space is a very popular trend in 2012. The current economic climate has meant that property developers and designers are focussing on maximising available space. It is much cheaper to use design to create more room than to move or extend your home. Try using mirrors, storage beds and a de-cluttering session to make a room bigger.

Jewel Tones:

The colours for 2012 are an eclectic mix of emerald, ruby, amethyst, sapphire, topaz and turquoise Ė all lending themselves to a variety of styles. These colours can be balanced with a mixture of either silvery greys or off-whites.

Thrifty and frugal:

This isnít technically a trend but it is becoming very fashionable across all walks of life Ė that is, finding a good deal. Whether it is shopping online for discounts or going to a second hand store, buying furniture at a cheaper price is no longer considered a lower class affair (and never should have been).
